A True Friend
Written For Chris
From Brad
Once in a while you need a friend
to bail you out of jail,
to me that friend is Chris:
a friend who will not fail.
Up or down or left or right,
I know I can count on him,
I pick up the phone and give a dial,
and we're like old friends again.
Our friendship started back in school.
when Chris has lowered his head,
on the football field we were teammates,
but Chris tackled me instead!
The teams all laughed, the crowd groaned,
and the coaches threw their pens,
but from one embarrassing moment
true friendship would begin.
Years would pass, schools would change,
girls would come and go.
but still every time I dialed his number,
Chris would be there to say "Hello!"
I guess what I'm trying to say
is you helped me through thick and thin,
I'll resist the urge to say "I love you, man"
and just thank you for being my friend.
